PLEASE NOTE: We are not a parts-house and do not ordinarily sell parts separately from our work. However, we do sometimes have some parts available, and we also sell complete engines and sometimes automobiles.
Note that this data is sometimes a little stale: Contact us for current information - we're Porsche specialists, not web-site developers! And, be sure to check out Our Terms and Conditions.

AT RIGHT: Lifters for the two-piece case 356 engines (and Denzel), refaced and polished, ready for installation.
Speaking only about original assembly-line parts, there are two fundamental varieties - those made of iron and used in "normals" and those made of forged steel used in the Supers. There are also modern copies. Here's what buyers should know.
Normal Lifters
These cast-iron lifters are easily distinguished by the thickness of the head, and this extra thickness made up for the lower lift. So far as we have seen, if you set them on a surface side-by side with the cam-lobe contact down, they are of identical length. These lifters were, "back in the day", famous for losing their heads in service when used in any kind of non-normal application. Therefore, we do not sell this type of lifter, but we will resurface yours if you insist. ...It was long ago proven that the Super type lifter can be made to work in all applications, so that's what we recommend "normal" engine builders use.
Super, S60, S90, C, SC, and 912 Lifters
These lifters were made of forged steel. All our lifters are OEM and all were originally for the engines listed in this category but all can be used in any three piece case engine. These are the superior choice.
Note that some have no forging marks and some have the ATE logo forged into them along with a set of numbers. As such, those with the ATE logo are worth more and so cost a little more. Further, the forging marks usually have the numerals with their tops toward the stem and bottoms toward the outer edge of the head, but all three types have reverse-forged numerals - and logos! If you get a set from us, it will usually have exactly matched forgings, but sometimes one or two may be "upside down." That's just how they were.So far as we can tell, the non-marked lifters date from the introduction of the three-piece and continued until the S90 era, but that's just a guess.
Here are our offerings in this category. We only sell resurfaced & polished sets, or new, when available.
- No forging marks - $335 / set
- ATE 21411 - $385 / set
- ATE 3000 - $400 / set
- ATE 3900 - $400 / set
- New OEM - rare; write or call.
- Servicing your lifters: cleaning, refacing, & polishing: $150 / set (as noted below, we won't service reproductions)
Reproduction Lifters
356 lifters have in modern times been reproduced in China by who-knows-what techniques, but these reproductions don't resurface well and we refuse to touch them. We neither sell nor resurface reproduction lifters. We will only install them into an engine we're rebuilding for you if you supply them! As of this writing, new Chinese reproductions (often falsely sold as OEM) are $335 / set.
